Back at it!

Let's face it, we are now two weeks into September and the weather is starting to dwindle along with our Summer spirits. Whether you headed back to school or back to work, there's nothing worse than trying to get back into the routine of things. We say... why not make it a little easier by adding a few great Fall piece's to your wardrobe?

This season, there are bold colours, contrasting textures and of course, cozy furs and knits appearing everywhere on the runways (and in stores!). So grab a couple of friends and set out on a shopping adventure that will result in your fabulously updated wardrobe.

A few essentials that are worth the investment are:
1. The Winter Boot- Let's be honest, in Canada, a fabulous (yet functional) winter boot is a must-have. Geox released a new technology they call Amphibiox, so now not only can your footwear breath, it's water resistant too! We recommend their lined rain boots to take you from Fall to Winter seamlessly. www.geox.com

2. A Fur Accent- It's true, fur is back. But instead of gearing up in head to toe animal, try a more subtle approach. Maybe a cuff or bag? It's a bit more practical and a lot more fashion forward. Check out Montreal designer Joanel for some fun furs and textures. www.joanelinc.ca

3. Bold Bracelets- Accessories are a must in every season. This Fall, they are large and in charge! Accessories are demanding attention like never before so pick up that big bold bracelet and wear it proud. Think chunky, bright colours and unique materials. Visit www.annemariechagnon.com for some unique designs from the Cirque de Soleil designer herself.

Blaze into Fall

It's a staple in everyone's wardrobe, you can throw it on with almost anything and it's the easiest way to instantly polish your look. It's the boyfriend blazer. Having a well-fitted, well-constructed blazer jacket is a must and The Style Department is here to show you how to wear it with poise.

At work:
Obviously a blazer is easy to wear in the office. It's important to remember though, you don't have to wear it with matching pants. Pairing the jacket with a coloured trouser or pencil skirt is a great way to get more wear out of this topper. Remember that this season is all about miss-match patterns, prints and textures.

In the afternoon:
You shouldn't neglect your blazer on the weekends! Throw on some skinny jeans and a printed V-neck and you are ready for a lunch date, shopping or coffee with friends! This season, grab a pair of wedged ankle boots to complete the look.

Evening out:
The blazer is great to wear out in the evenings and it can be dressed up or down depending on what you pair it with. Textured tights, high waisted shorts and knee high boots are a great option. Your blazer will pull your outfit together and keep you warm once the temperature drops.

Lesson to be learned: A well rounded wardrobe consists of several key pieces along with plenty of personal accents. So remember, wear your blazer and don't let your blazer wear you!
